The Church:

Services were first held in the Northern Rugby Club pavilion in 1944. A Nissen hut was acquired and adapted for use as the first church, being dedicated on 4 May 1946. The present church, originally a multi-purpose building with a stage at the west end and a screen to close the choir during the week was completed ten years later. The architect was a church member, Mr. Fred Herron. When St. Aidan's community centre was built the stage area was altered for use as a baptistry before the church was consecrated in 1963.
